Brainwashed People Think Everyone Else is Brainwashed
And they won’t trust anything that doesn’t buy into the fantasy world they occupy.
Hi,
I am just going to state something very obvious: American police are fucking crazy.
That was a photo gracing the New York Times this morning, showing New York City police “entering Columbia University last night after receiving a request from the school.”
Apparently in America, protesting the deaths of tens of thousands of Palestinians is enough to have the riot squads descend on you.
It’s difficult to know where to start as America’s police do their thing — be that violently throwing university professors to the ground, arresting journalists, or assaulting more professors. Watching American police is like watching a group of rampaging toddlers throwing their toys.
Don’t get me started on the universities themselves:
But putting aside any kind of politics for a moment, you just have to look at that photo of police entering Columbia and go “This is objectively just insane stuff.”
As my friend pointed out, any other police would be like, “Oh maybe there’s a back door, or if we need to we can use a hand held battering ram.”
American police are just: “Yep, we’ve got a ladder tank.”
No doubt the NYPD has been frothing at the mouth to use that fucking thing. Just toddlers who want to play with their toys, and bash some skulls in.
I’ve been revisiting some System of a Down this week — ‘Prison Song’ reminding me off frontman Serj Tankian’s ability to cram an incredible amount of words about a broken America into such short songs.
I’m excited to be doing an interview Serj on May 15 about the release of his book, Down With The System. It’s not my event, but he asked me to do and I happily obliged. It’ll be streamed online here.
Today’s Webworm is an essay from the ever-excellent Hayden Donnell. It’s a story about belief and truth — and how far we’ve distanced ourselves from reality.
I’m always looking for answers on why things are the way they are — including why we’re arresting university students for using their brains — and this essay is a goodie.
David.
