Hi,

I just got back from a long conversation with someone I bumped into at the park. They knew me, I didn’t know them. Curses to you, prosopagnosia.

I hope you had a good weekend. I sort of collapsed into it. I think Arise finally caught up with me. Sometimes walking around with arseholes living rent-free in your head for months on end takes its toll, and you need a little nap.

After Webworm decided to leak the independant review last week, all other New Zealand media followed.

A selection of stories following Webworm’s publication of the review last week

I imagine most of them had copies of the report too — they just didn’t want to take the legal risk of publishing it first.

RNZ had the best story, succinctly summing up the very long review. Stuff had a very encouraging followup, reporting that Charity Services are opening an enquiry into Arise. Good.

I am glad I sent that newsletter to you. I’m glad you got the news first, and I’m glad it led to en-masse reporting on a church that’s rotten to its core.

So today’s Webworm is a check-in, I suppose. I wanted to catch my breath. Maybe you’re catching yours, too. As usual, I’m happy to chat anything out in the comments below — or to just sit in what you have to say. I love being able to talk to you here. I love reading what you write. I feel incredibly lucky that you take the time to share.

I hope you liked last week’s Flightless Bird episode about Amazon. Tomorrow is our episode about Juggalos. I hope you like it.

Also — I have a new documentary coming out!
