Hi, direct from bigfoot territory —
A morning thought: I try not to look at Webworm “subscribers” too much, as that kinda thing drives you crazy.
My aim is just to write, no matter what. If I lose readers when I ramble on about a genocide in Gaza, or horrific churches, or insufferable billionaires — that’s fine. They’re not the people I want to write for, and I certainly don’t want their fucking money.
In saying that, it can be hard to see growth that is then lost in people leaving.
So I guess this is me just gently saying if you wanna share that Webworm exists with someone that maybe doesn’t know, that’s super helpful.
Webworm has a website — https://www.webworm.co — feel free to pass it around.
It helps. I’d love to see the graph go up!
If you’re a free subscriber, but you’re rich — consider paying for Webworm (only if you like my work). Unsubscribe anytime you want. Webworm is my main thing, so thank you.
If you are a student or on any kind of benefit or saving for you or your family — never, ever pay for Webworm. In fact email me, and I can comp you. Instead, just spread the word.
Unlike, say, Flightless Bird, Webworm has zero advertisers. And I adore that fact. Paying subscribers let me build up a stockpile for dealing with being sued, or taking on other bigger ideas.
It lets me write and live, it pay writers like Hayden Donnell (his new Webworm is out today, and I also berate New Zealand’s worst person Nick Mowbray), and it means Webworm never, ever has advertising.
That’s my TedTalk.
I’ll be doing another AMA for paying subscribers soon, so hope to see you over there. I increasingly hate social media and Webworm is my place to actually talk to you.
Much aroha,
David.
PS: some recent writing for paid members:
