Hi,

I woke up last week with hundreds of unread posts on my public Facebook profile. I don’t use Facebook much and have a relatively small following there — so I was kinda surprised.

I clicked through, and under a post I’d made on December 6 — I found this:

Oriana Ray: Immortal God Kabir!

It sounded like someone was preaching at me — which is fine — but then so were hundreds of other people, too:

Marie Grey: Supreme God is the creator of the universe!

“Supreme God is the creator of all the heavenly places and the universe.”

Okay, sounds like the typical claim every religion makes of their God. I just wasn’t sure why 500 people had suddenly chosen to tell me this at the same time.

“All books prove Kabir is God” they proclaimed. “Immortal God Kabir!”

I clicked through onto one of their profiles, and got this:

Oriana Ray's Facebook page showing a young woman looking wistful

I clicked through a few more profiles, and they all appeared to be young women with profiles all over the planet. I think it’s safe to say most of the profiles were fake. I decided to post on a few of their walls — just in case I got any feedback.

What is the cult you belong to?

Then I Googled this Kabir chap.
