New Zealand's media awards took place last night in Auckland, New Zealand.

Just a quick online-only update that Webworm won “Best Team Investigation” last night at the Voyagers.

This means a lot, especially considering we were up against giant newsrooms like Stuff and TVNZ:

WINNER: David Farrier and Hayden Donnell | Webworm – The Downward Spiral of Arise Church

JUDGES: Alan Sunderland and Ali Ikram

“This story was the result of a sustained investigation involving multiple sources, and was pursued despite strong resistance and push back. It was widely followed up by other media outlets and a major impact, leading to the resignation of key figures in the church. A thorough and compelling journalistic investigation.”

I feel really proud of this — and very happy to lose “Best Scoop” to John Campbell, because John’s interview with Peter Ellis was incredible.
