Talking To My Hero: R. L. Stine

My uncut interview with a legend.

Goosebumps cover

Hi,

Webworm readers are still introducing themselves in last week's AMA thread, and I am here for all of it. You are all amazing. Webworm has the best readers.

And before I forget: For some reason, a few readers are recently discovering:

a) the return of Air New Zealand's cursed Australian snack
b) another man called David Farrier.

If you missed it, I explained the return of Air NZ's chickpea puffs here, and interviewed the other David Farrier here.

This week is a little chaotic, as I'm on the road doing three live podcast shows for Flightless Bird.

We try to make these shows worth the price of admission, so instead of just me yapping, we try to pack them with guests. So in Salt Lake City we had the owner of Skinwalker Ranch, a caver involved in the ill-fated Nutty Putty cave rescue attempt, and the guy behind the biggest weiner dog race in the USA. Needless to say, wrangling this stuff gets a bit mad.

With Flightless Bird on my brain, our episode this week is about Goosebumps – and I was lucky enough to interview the 82-year-old mastermind behind the series, R. L. Stine.

I still feel a bit giddy that I got to talk to with him – and today I wanted to share the uncut interview with you. I cleaned up the audio a bit, and it's here for your listening pleasure:
