Good!!! I wonder if the Gloriavale employment case will similarly find that they are exploiting their people... About time these religious groups were held to account.
Unfortunately some interesting reading from Charities office website. Of the 7 named trustees, 5 have only been appointed in last 6 months, and 1 has been there 10 months. ( the 7th one was a trustee for a few months in 2022 but was removed from list in December 2022. ) also interesting is that on 12April 2022, Brent and John Cameron removed themselves as trustees, and 6 days later, the remaining 4 trustees signed a deed amendment making them responsible for the church’s activities. Of those 4 trustees, only one remains and is named- Kylie Fletcher ( who had just been appointed at that time) The status of Graeme Kirkwood is unclear, he is not named as trustee in the recent list, but is not showing as having been removed. Also two other trustees were appointed and removed in 2022. Trouble at mill? Makes you wonder if they are patsy’s?
Just to clarify, by stood down, do we mean they can’t work/ they’re suspended from their roles? Or just that they can’t employ migrant workers? The term is a little confusing
I was covering the Gloriavale employment court case in Greymouth earlier this week, and although I feel like it’s a bit of a side show to the major problems Gloriavale has had (and still has) it did make me wonder about the implications for mega churches treating volunteers as badly as Arise does.
"And we would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling Farrier!" .. in other mega church oddities, as driving past City Impact Church Mt Wellington it says their morning Saturday "event" is now in the Hoyts Cinema. So. Weird.
