The way I feel when I get a Webworm email is not dissimilar to the way you feel when you get a Sofia/Sophia text.

I believe whoever has signed up for your emails would consider nothing you send them spam. If anyone ops-out, pay no mind. It would just be your trolls.

You can send me emails every fucking second hahahah <3. I was thinking about that a few days ago. I used to appreciate a lot of conspiracy theory too, those crazy blow mind stories was one of my favorite thing in the world. I read, watched and searched everything about September 11, Bermuda Triangle, Varginha ETs, moon travel directed by Kubrick and so forth. But now, it’s completely terrifying how people are lost, confused, fighting against facts, almost blind. As a journalist, for me it’s sad see how ignorance is destroying reason just like a virus.

Hey L! It's pretty hard to stomach, huh. Truth is totally out the window; narratives seem to be created as a way to make people feel more in control of their lives, perhaps. Or to make them feel like they have some sort of hidden, cool information/insight that no-one else has. I dunno, it's remind me a bit of when I first got the internet at about 14 (I am old) and got into these blogs about UFOs and suddenly felt really special, like I had CIA-level access or something. That I had some hidden knowledge. But... it was jus some Geocities website about some UFO sightings. That attitude is what fuels a lot of these people, I think. Makes them feel special. "Ooooh, I know the real truth as Q has revealed it to me!" And so it goes on.

Totally! I felt the same way; very special, very open minded and intelligent. The documentary “Behind the curve” expose how these people are emotionally vulnerable, lonely and desperately want to be part of a group or find a meaning for their own lives. It’s sad.

There was a time when conspiracy theories kinda help us to develop some critic sense; I learned to question things and i always found a way to look through reality. But i never imagined that things would get out of control. It’s an information war and journalists are the soldiers in the front line.

Thanks for answer. :)

I live in a small rural town in the US and there are many local people who believe that the coronavirus is some kind of government scheme. Facebook is a nightmare to scroll through anymore.

I think there’s actually a really fine line between these theories and extremism. In terms of depth of belief.

My god what have you done. I've lost hours by clicking on that one tweet, then going to the profiles of people responding and getting lost in their threads, rinse and repeat.

It's kinda nuts how many people in those threads say they are waiting for Trump to confirm this as they "only trust God and President Trump". Can see how easily it leads to those extremist actions when he does anything that could be interpreted as confirming their theories.
