Hi David and all the Webworm posse, this man puts my profession to shame no question. I wish I could get all these people struck off. But anyway, can I please clarify that his status on the medical council register of doctors is not of concern. I myself for instance would have the same conditions but having to be supervised under the pathology training programme as I am in training to be a pathologist. Anyone training to be a specialist doctor (GPs are specialist doctors of genera practice) is the same. I’d hate people to search their doctor and assume something bad has happened from that.
Thank you very much for updating that phrase David, I really appreciate it. I wish all incorrect information was so easy to get corrected. Would solve a lot of problems with the world.
As NZ doctor myself, there are a few of these around - pretty much anyone who signed the plan b petition is on the list. One on flipping YouTube is Sam Bailey - nz trained doctor but has no vocational registration (not a gp or on any training program) and has no practicing certificate but is still peddling misinformation. She has a profile from being in tv in some form or another but was reported to the medical council. Sounds like dr Dan also needs to be flagged. The vast majority of us are fully vaccinated and terrified of how we’ll cope if the pandemic takes off here.
Thanks for this Lyall. I am actually getting a few comments together (anonymously) from NZ doctors who have read this, for a subscribers-only Webworm piece on Friday. Would you mind if I included your comment (minus your name) in that piece?
I agree that GPs are not virologists but as primary health professionals understanding how vaccinations function and add enormous value value to communities, are absolutely things that any family doctor should 100% be across.
This is honestly like saying the chef at your local restaurant does not believe in ever washing their hands, rather they sniff lavender or something after cutting chicken. Its just ridiculous.
The fucking Simpsons haha it is that stupid though *sigh.
Thanks David. This is hard to think about on the back of Jez and so many others, so appreciate you getting it out there.
It says he's an integrative GP on his Instagram profile. "Integrative" medicine is just "alternative/complementary" medicine rebranded. Any doctor who practices integrative medicine is basically a quack doctor and should be avoided in my opinion. These tend to be the ones who are anti-vax and push all manner of unproven treatments on people like trying to cure cancer with large doses of Vitamin C. Ugh.
I was reading some comments on his Instagram last night and replied to one with the word “idiot” in my reply. Instagram said “no, no, no we can’t let you use bad words in your comment”. WTF!? This guy is potentially killing people and that’s what you’re worried about? Anyway, reported.
Part of me wants to fight their unethical fire with more unethical fire and find out who among them got secretly vaxxed as it’s infuriating to watch influencers of this movement have it both ways. But, predictably, if this info did come to light, they’d use the excuse they were ‘forced to’ for work and still maintain their followers who are in too deep. Thanks for the work you do as always. It’s public health community work 🙏
Ohhh my god there are 2 of these clown doctors in my small town. One is a pediatrician spreading awful misinformation about kids in masks and the other is an ER doctor who is telling all of our local government (including police, firefighters etc) NOT to get vaccinated. I have no idea what to even do about them?
What do you call the guy who graduated last in his class from med school? A doctor. 😔
It's those special, enlightened, prideful, wankers every time isn't it. Anything but the vaccine - that anything is likely to be covid. That they'll spread. How's that for agency, dr.f.wit.
I can confirm that Millhouse Medical Center is pumping Ivermectin hard. My parent's doctor is Ric Coleman at Millhouse Medical Center and they have recently become illogically pro-Ivermectin and anti vaccines. I thought they had just been consuming misinformation on Facebook, but this makes so much sense! Great reporting David!
Uh-oh. Are we soon to have a fully licensed quack preying upon our gullible, after he charmed his way around a female judge and a potential jail sentence?
Such negative thought, however, was absolutely negated by the delightful sidedive into your "Strange Saga of Alberic Whale and Zach the A.I." parts 1 to 3.
Thanks David, that read made my morning! Respect +1
Small world. I used to go to that clinic 10+ years ago when I was still in NZ, and my parents used to go to the GP that Dan seems to report to based on the Millhouse Medical website… A bit worrying since to your point I don’t think a lot of people put much thought into when they pick a GP…
I think it’s the fact that they use half-truths to suck people in. Even people you thought were rational enough can fall down the rabbit hole. Like, I read that there’s been a small amount of observational research into vitamin d and covid and preliminary research into ivermectin, but the studies are far from conclusive and have only been tested on small sample sizes? Which leads to people hijacking this exploratory research to push the agenda that vaccines are a government conspiracy to subjugate us all.
I’ve also seen people pointing to Pfizer’s past corruption settlements as evidence that they’re taking a huge profit margin and exploiting all of us. I am VERY pro vax but I find that hard to argue against tbh because again it’s plausible as a semi-truth… what do you reckon?

Of course - very happy to clarify. And thank you!

So distressing.
So disappointing.

First Howick gives us Jami-Lee Ross, and now this guy. Shame on you Howick, my old stomping grounds, what have you become!
Not the greatest white man representation, eh.
What pisses me off is that numpties like this put ego before caring for others. FFS!
Giant ego. Guaranteed.
The bio line of his now private Instagram reads “watch this space”. Oh, Dan, I shall. How I shall.
Let me guess: he continues to be an arrogant peddler of total balls

Good old Instagram - trying to clean itself up but often failing miserably!

Yeah, this kinda thinking is found everywhere in little pockets of medicine. I think sometimes we (including myself!) need to be reminded of this!

I have no freaking words 😢
I agree.
Although I guess in saying that, I did write a few :P
