This is the whole thing, "But I wasn’t sure how else to tell them what mattered to me, and who I longed to be, and what made my heart race" Beautiful.

John Campbell, not only a fantastic journalist and person, also fantastic a picking music and writing about it in an incredibly evocative way. I met John Campbell once and I think it was the only time I've ever gotten excited over meeting a celebrity, I admire him as a journalist and the amount of effort he puts in to trying to help people and to pursue justice. Plus he has a very soothing voice.

Dam JC is soo good! Not many journalists or hosts these days who are able to engender trust just by being, but by god he does (as do you David). The fact he thinks and talks of music like this just means he's essentially a saint now too.

John is one of the best humans, such kindness and integrity. He is also a Wellingtonian and proud Hurricanes supporter which makes him perfect in my books. He truly cares for the people he advocates for and has such a passion for sharing their stories. Alas I don’t have Spotify to listen to his playlist!

Magic stuff! I'm terribly slack at making my own playlists - I just tend to chuck a whole bunch of stuff I like together in random groupings - but I love and appreciate the work that goes into other people's. I relish the opportunity to discover music new to me and from genres that I might be unfamiliar with.

Whenever I read about people's carefully curated playlists, I realize how NOT into music I am. No shade meant, the most I know about playlists is that I once read an article by a music critic who claimed that the best set list he ever heard was played on Disney Radio. I'm very good with my innate uncoolness where music is concerned.

I'm loving how much hip hop is in here. I'm constantly having absolute tunes come on that I think are just from my own Spotify autoplaying as per my tastes but then I remind myself that this is in fact JC's playlist. This actually goes hard, I'm impressed

I love this. The playlist and JC's description of "the rush and gratitude and amazement of discovery".

I am so glad to know you are mates. I love JC. I was thrilled to bits when he joined the breakfast crew. I am already preparing myself for when he leaves. I know there is only so long they can cope easily with the killer hours. That show has such warmth and humour unlike the plonkers on the AM show. I am pretty sure Ben Elton sussed that out to. I also love alternative music at 63 yrs. I started listening to student radio after I stopped going to church 32 yrs ago. I never looked back and don't listen to the main stream music I liked as a teenager. I will definitely listen to Johns soundtrack. Can you ask him if he has listened to Jazmine Mary. I think he would love her. 😍
