I love this more than anything. Not quite as extreme but my boys are Eddie (Iron Maiden) and Ronnie James (Dio). I want to be friends with this mum she sounds awesome 🤘

I can't wait for my child Impaled Nazarene to play with Pig Destroyer in a school yard someday.

I showed this to a friend of mine who is really into metal to suggest as names for his future pugs (he doesn’t want kids).

This was his response:

“I like the spirit of this. Names aren't cute enough though 🥺. It's inspired me though, I'll look in my metal record collection and share a better one ”

and then when he was inspired he came up with ones that would shorten to good nicknames:

“Judas Priest (Judy)

Suicidal Tendencies - (Sue)

Coroner - (Cory)

Abattoir - (Abby)

Flotsam and Jetsam (Flo and Jet, for two names in on)

Sadus (Sadie)”

When I changed my name legally i couldn’t think of a good middle name, so I just threw my favorite metal band in there. Middle name is August after August Burns Red. I fully support this mom.

My stepsister has four children with idiosyncratic themed names and it’s always my trump card to pull out when ‘kooky baby name’ conversations happen. Except for the last time when a workmate was like “my cousin works with a woman and her four kids are called…” and of course it was the same family because New Zealand 🤪

My kids all have weird names because I felt like it would be character building hahaha. Their middle names are Radio (after Radio Sloan from The Need) and Sonic (Sonic Youth). My oldest's first name is after a band from Auckland in the 90's that I loved. If they wanna change them when they're older they have my full support, but at this time they are quite fond of their names.

I was at a ice hockey game in Canada about 6 years ago and on the jumbo screen there was a birthday message for a kid called Linkin 🤦🏻‍♀️

Slayer Scott has a really nice ring to it. I was almost certain I didn’t want to reproduce (and I don’t think this would fly if I adopted), but now I’m reconsidering EVERYTHING.

“Awww…I can feel little Slayer kicking. Do you want to feel my belly?” Can’t think of a better way to terrify folks in the spirit of good fun.

I wonder if they have nicknames too? I’m trying to imagine calling out “Slayer” at the playground...🤔

Oooh David, you're opening a can of (web)worms there - baby naming can be so subjective! When I decided to name my son after a famous Catalán surrealist artist, I had a very heated conversation with a German coworker who thought that unusual names should never be used as they were too difficult for non-English-speakers to pronounce 🙄 But it's a name I really like, and I personally think it suits him. I've also come across a number of other kids with the same name locally, which is cool. He was almost named Kerouac, and I was very tempted to add Octopus as a middle name, so he probably got off lightly! He has a more usual middle name which we gave him deliberately so that he would have the option if he preferred to use it later on.
