Edit: The Webworm online merch store is now online!
Hope to see you at the popup on May 11 to celebrate - details below!
Hi,
From time to time, I want to bring Webworm into the real world. We did it last year with the Jurassic Park event in New Zealand — which was a lot of fun!
And so on Saturday May 11th, in Los Angeles, I am hosting a lil’ Webworm pop-up!
I’ve been working with New Zealand artist Jess Johnson to design a bunch of Webworm caps, t-shirts and stickers — and I’ve gathered some of my favourite friends to put on a little market.
We’ll have a selection of brand new Webworm merch on hand — and I’ll be there all afternoon to hang out and chat about anything you like. It’ll be like a Webworm AMA, but IRL!
And I really love the stuff we’ve made — like this Dinosaur Park tee. This is me attempting to model it.
As well as a bunch of printed Webworm tees, hats and stickers, Jess has been busy in her Roswell, New Mexico studio making some custom one-off pieces that she’s bringing to the pop-up.
She made a bunch last year for the Jurassic Park event in New Zealand, and they went very quickly! I barely take mine off.
Well, she’s made a bunch more — each reflecting themes and ideas found on Webworm over the last four years.
Each one is hand drawn and utterly unique.
And then there are my friends bringing their wares to the pop-up.
Everything is Terrible! is coming and I can hardly believe it. They’re a performance collective that is responsible for a never-ending treasure trove of found videos and other footage — and they’ll be there in person with a bunch of DVDs and VHS tapes.
The Freak Nature Puppets are also turning up with some of their shirts, and to show off their hand made freakish puppet creations.
If you like games you’re in luck — there’ll be a pool table, and a fresh new board game called Lil’ Guys. One of its creators Ben will be there to walk you through the game and you can try and beat him.
Finally, my friend Rach will be selling her fresh cookies — and they are going to be delicious.
If you don’t live in LA — don’t worry.
Leading up to the popup I am going to put a bunch of the printed shirts, caps and stickers up for sale online — which ship worldwide. This whole event has actually been an excuse to finally get my ass into gear to create a permanent Webworm store. I’ll let you know the URL once our final tweaks are done.
That way, if you want to take Webworm into the real world — you can.
The community that’s grown here is one of my favourite things — and this is just another way to make that more fun and interactive.
New designs and items will be added to the store throughout the year, reflecting the themes and ideas that Webworm deals with. It will be an ever-evolving, weird space that hopefully has something for everyone.
But yes — if you’re in LA, come and get your mitts on it. It’s an afternoon hang at a very relaxed market.
Cold drinks and beers in the fridge. Family friendly.
Bring your cats, dogs and birds. And tell your friends: www.webworm.co/p/popup
Date: Saturday May 11th
Time: 2pm-6pm
Location: 1944 Riverside Drive (the space directly across the parking lot from the Elysian Theatre).
See you there, and I’ll be in the comments as usual to answer any questions you might have.
David.
Jealous of all you LA Worms!!! I'll definitely be getting some of the merch online when it drops ♥️♥️
Yay webworm merch! Looking forward to getting some when the store is up!
If possible, can you try and make sure in store photos are image described so blind consumers have an idea what the merch looks like? thanks :)
The pop up sounds like a fun time! A shame I'm in the southern hemisphere LOL
