Hi,
Thanks to all the beautiful Worms who came to the LA Webworm popup on Saturday. We’ll be doing a similar event in New Zealand soon!
It was a way to celebrate the online store we launched last week — and it was super special.
As I talk about a lot, I really value our community here — and it was a BLAST to bring that into the real world.
Thanks to those who took part in the popup: Rachel Loaf, Freak Nature Puppets, EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE! and Lil’ Guys.
Thanks to Kiwi artist Jess Johnson for creating all the Webworm merch - we have more stuff coming so keep an eye on webworm.store. Thanks also to Bobby for creating our online store and handling all the background chaos to this project.
But mainly — THANKS TO ALL THE WORMS WHO SHOWED UP! I loved meeting you all, so much so I almost lost my voice.
We’ll do one of these popups in New Zealand later this year. Stay tuned.
Okay: Highlights from the photos below to look out for:
-The man who bought an “I HAVE WORMS” cap, who revealed he actually had worms (ringworm).
-John from HEALTH turned up. You know how much I love HEALTH.
-Some special dogs.
-A lot of great readers - one who brought me chocolate from New Zealand.
-A bunch of photos I screengrabbed off social media - thanks to those of you who shared!
If you missed the popup, a bunch of stuff is available at the store, and it ships pretty quickly.
Okay — onto the photos.
I was thinking of writing a comment about the importance of gathering F2F IRL but then I read Scott Schalchlin's comment on your ‘How Are You Doing’ post. He said what I wanted to say, but better. So I’ll just quote him here.
“I was once given this advice and I have cherished it: “Bloom where you’re planted.” We can’t control everything, but we can touch the lives of those we come into contact with and whether we are doing a menial job or “important one,” whether we are talking to friends, family, or strangers, whether we have a big audience or small - it all comes to being our best where we are in that moment. For me, it’s kind of a blend of living in the moment and loving my neighbor. And, of course, my neighbor is who I come into contact with in any form.”
Fabulous! So glad it was such a success & so much fun David. Will definitely get to your next meet up here in Aotearoa.
