I’m so thrilled by the existence of this post! I’m chronic for podcasts, and Heavyweight is so special, almost the epitome of the perfect podcast. As a Canadian-loving Canadian, Jonathan Goldstein is earnest and funny and heartbreaking, and his voice is enormously comforting. I just had to let you know how exciting (in These Unprecedented Times) it was for me, a fan of both of yours, to see you intersect. I would listen to anything that the two of you produced together. Please say you have a moment from your past that feels unresolved, and you could really use Jonathan’s help???
Out of curiosity and I can’t seem the find the answer online, does Gregory get writing credits or royalties from the songs now? I mean it would be a lot of $$ right?
This was a great read. I loved Moby. Saw him live in Manchester was in second row and he was incredible. David, I couldn't suggest a better podcast than Stephen Fry's 7 deadly sins series. It's delicious to the ears and brain. Love your work, you are so clever and bloody funny! Thanks so much.
I am now imagining the day when i get to do the same with you( if the universe is kind enough ) ...telling you what a big fan i am and asking all my questions about your work. ... What we do in the shadows is what i will always remember taika by ...... I know he did an amazing job with Thor: Ragnarok but i pride myself on being a fan of his work much before all that jojo ...
Since you recommended that episode, I binged all of the Heavyweight episodes. God it's a good show. So funny and also so touching. And Gregor really is hilarious. Loving your website, David!
I just listened to that podcast, a few years late. One thing really struck out and disturbed me, if I heard it correctly. Did Gregor say that he has two children, but only one of them is “beautiful“? Did I hear that correctly? I find that so hurtful and sad and cruel if that is really what he said.
I talk to Gregor (the guy who lent Moby his CDs, which he then sampled to make "Play")
wow this was so interesting! i love thinking about how small the world can be, lots of us are randomly connected, very cool!
i hope your week is also going well David! :)
But did he ever get his CDs back??
