Hi all - if you don't get an email confirmation with your order, it's because your order is sitting on hold till I sort things out at the bank on Monday! The order was taken!

Why is this happening? Well, so many people ordered, it maxed things out! I pay for the print run first, before I get reimbursed by *your* order (a weird system, I know). So many orders, I didn't factor this in.

But - order away. It's happening. You just aren't getting the confirmation email till I yell at my bank tomorrow!

This weekend my wife and I are hosting a couple of refugees from Iraq along with others in our community. They are delightful and I Nelligen. They were forced to free terrible persecution. They have added so much to their host country in in the couple of days to our lives.

They are the type of people that the Trumps of this world attack and vilify for personal gain. I despise the Trumps of this world and their supporters. Biden is right to call them garbage for that is what they are.

You're awesome for hosting, Grahame.

The demon that went after Tucker gets a 2 out of 5 from me… I mean OK overall but seriously lacking in effort and completion rate.

D’you think the demon recognised a “fellow traveller?”

Great T-shirts, I would've got myself one if I could right now. Purse strings, you know. But it's nice to see you're getting a lot of orders. Even if too many all at once, but still.

Which sort of brings me to elections - earlier when I commented on our latest presidental one here, I left out that it's not as impactful here to common people as parliamentary ones are. And the last ones we had were a horror show (for the low-income leftists like me), and I remember feeling actually sick afterwards, and especially when the government was finally formed. And so were many others, and we weren't wrong. But this isn't about my financies - what I wanted to say is that I counted the years before things might change next, unless someone or something could overthrow the government that's breaking everything that's good and decent here, and I realised I'll be 50 by then. (Fuck!) So, thinking of the next 4 years to come, I don't even want to think about the global repercussions of the US having another round of you-know-who.

So, I can only hope that those who can vote could understand exactly what was said here, about the "who do you want to negotiate with" thing. So well said! This is the second year of no room for negotiating about anything here, it's just banging your head against the wall and we don't have *those years* to waste, whether it's about the climate disaster or bigotry or human rights. And, we just had the first ever recorded hurricane-force wind here, and I feel like it should be a really big concern. But yeah, no. :( So I'm not holding my breath, trusting people to realise what's at stake here... Except I kinda do feel like I am holding my breath more and more every day. I just want to exhale.

Glad that resonated with you, Sanelma. It really, really clicked with me.

I have all my extremities crossed for Tuesday (not that'll make a lick of different, but you know).

Also I know you were not angling for this, but I have comp'd your Webworm membership going forward :). Keep that money in the purse. In case I missed your next billing cycle, if you ever see a Webworm payment exiting your account email me and I'll sort it: davidfarrier@protonmail.com!

Oh wow, I did not expect this, and I definitely wasn't looking for it, but thank you so much David. I paid for Webworm to begin with because it gave me a feeling of having just a little bit of agency, and I hope this might amuse you - I was so angry because of the absolutely unfair austerity measures that I also did it out of spite. See, I have no privacy whatsoever financially, as long as I need to get benefits. Even if I could get back to work, it would be very much part-time, and I'd still need those benefits, and they'd still read every one of my bank statements from here on to the day I die. So I didn't ask for a comp, because I believe I have to have the right to make some decisions about my life and not just be a receiver of handouts from the government when they feel like it. It's not about money at that point, it's about worth as a human being. The money we all have to deal with in life is just a means to an end (for me), and truthfully I will need every cent, but validation is priceless. So thank you for that. 💜

And yes, let's still hope as much as we can, until this election is over. Imagine if enough people would have seen the light, even if it's dim, but at least it's not total darkness.

You rock. On all fronts. And you deciding to sub in the first place is more than what 90% of Webworm readers do, so I am deeply appreciative of that already.

Now I'm just lost for words. ♥️

I really love these new designs and would absolutely buy a classic birds tee... if they came in different fits. I hate the standard t-shirt fit on me. Any chance you will expand these to fitted tees, or even hoodies? I'm used to merch only coming in a tee style which I won't wear but I think this is the one I'm saddest about haha. I've been known to get handy with my sewing machine to refit a tee but I'd rather not 😂

Noted Lara! A lot of factors come into it - but your hoodies and fitted tees are noted. I too love a good hoodie.

I'm meant to be refreshing my work wardrobe but a flightless bird tshirt is much more important 😊

I'm watching the election unfolding nervously from the UK.

Also hell yes stickers. Stickers are great.

Yeah, I love our Webworm stickers a lot. All down to Jess Johnson, one of my fav NZ artists.

Thank you so much for what you articulated in the first part, about Kamala. You've helped me feel better about this situation and who I am voting for even though she and her party don't represent my values. All of those examples; Lincoln, Roosevelt, Obama, so eye-opening and inspiring. I tiny bit of hope has sprung up again in my heart.

Thanks, Frankie. Something snapped in place for me, too. Of course the ironic thing is I CAN'T EVEN VOTE (despite now paying taxes in America).

Great Tees, got one as an early Xmas gift for myself and to keep supporting this amazing part of the internet!

John Oliver ended his last episode before election on a similar note as you did, highly recommend a watch if you haven't. Not religious, but praying that we (the world) don't ever have to pay attention to that orange dirtbag again!

Good luck from NZ

Politics is like hitchhiking. Trump pulls up, no thanks. Kamala pulls up. How far can you take me? Not as far as you would like, but further than that garbage truck.

These illustrations!! Love the tees so much. Wtg Charlie can’t wait to buy the one with the 3 birds especially. Really cool concepts

Love the shirts, just got one!

Also, I’ve wanted Trump to just go away since he first stepped into the political spotlight but he’s like a cancer that just keeps coming back. I’m hopeful that Harris is the remedy we have all been waiting for. This nightmare has to end.

I liked it when he lost and got kicked off Twitter for a bit. He was quieter then. I miss those times. I miss things before 2016. Ugh.

PS - glad you dig the tees!

Same…those were truly good times.

Could we get that "webworm sliced logo" image from the sticker put on a shirt?? I'd rock the shit out of that design on a T-shirt! For now I'm grabbing the sticker and a Classic Flightless Birds tee and I'm STOKED on it

Expand full comment

Very appreciative of you being into the designs, but we took a lot of timing figuring out what would be best design-wise on a tee, and on stickers, and on hats - and this is where we have landed. A lot of intent behind it all!

Those are great ways to think about voting. Totally applicable in NZ. Shirt purchased!

Expand full comment

Yeah, we are a bit better off in NZ with MMP where we can vote outside of those 2 main parties and it actually does make a difference. NZ is lucky in that way.

Expand full comment

Except we have more than two horses to bet on in NZ.

Expand full comment

Yeah, we can't even get out of the two-party bullshit for Congress or state-level offices. It's rare for someone to be elected as anything other than Democrat or Republican, and they tend to have short terms. NZ seems to be doing comparatively well with multi-party representation.
