Hi David, really enjoying your emails. I love the way you write so enthusiastically on all subjects and I always love hearing more about tickled! Bit of an odd thing happened to me a couple of days a go...after reading about the marines I listened to an episode of a podcast called True crime obsessed in which they were discussing The tickle king, later on in the evening I received a Facebook message request from a stranger asking 'What do you think about ticklish guys?' I just thought this was so odd after all the stuff I had been reading earlier in the day!

Thanks Tegan. I sort figure there's no point in being alive unless you can have *some* kind of wide-eyed wonder at both the good and bad. Very pleased you are being targeted by ticklers. Welcome to my world!

i’ve been telling everyone i can about your newsletter, ive loved the emails i’ve gotten so far and i hope my friends will too :)

there’s so much to unpack in this piece, but i have to say i love the way that the riverdale writers watching ‘tickled’ then made them make it a plot on the show, very funny/cool

Have to say I've jumped into your podcasts lists with gusto. My favourites so far are Preet and Gregor. Ive been diving into a lot of Preets older episodes and boy am I learning a lot ! He's great. And Gregor. Poor Gregor that just couldn't get that final victory even though he did win the battle. Cant wait for an update ! Moby actually suprised me on that one. What a sad little dude. Will think of his story every time I hear his music. Enjoying your wormisodes. Keep up the great work !

I have yet to see Tiger King. I’ve heard it isn’t good, but is it something I should watch anyway?

Watch HBO's "I'll be Gone in the Dark" or Netflix's "How to Fix a Drug Scandal" instead

Or "Dark Tourist" ;-)

I think I can guess what you didn't like about tiger King, while it was entertaining in the way only a dumpster fire can be, it seems like the filmmakers set out to make everybody look as bad as they possibly could. If you're going to call the film you make a documentary you need to be fair about everything and present the facts you discovered as they are without any spin. To me that shows a lack of Integrity from the people who made the Tiger King. From what I know about you you're an incredibly honest filmmaker and journalist , so this was bound to bother you.

I am going to write some Tiger King thoughts in a future newsletter... but yeah - 7 hours of reality TV, with a 5 minute summing up at the end like a kid finishing his school essay: "Oh yeah so what we have learnt is that um keeping big cats in captivity is bad". And then that special. OOOOOF.

In saying that, I devoured the series marvelling at the access, file footage and general madness. But it exists within a vacuum.

The access was actually what I was marveling at most of the series.

I’ve gained some very interesting watching material from this! Damn...and the testicles. That’s some dark shit right there. This is so intriguing because some stuff you think can’t possibly be real and then...it seriously is. You can’t make this stuff up. Cheers to the entertainment of it all! 🙌🏼

Oh really excellent essay on ANNIHILATION, a movie that has stayed with me in a way most never could. Thanks for that

All good. I love that movie so much. I know this is extreme, but for me it's 10/10. Wouldn't change a thing. Well, we can debate the end but the whole thing got under my skin, have never stopped thinking about it, therefore 10/10

There are very few films that actually re-arrange something in one's brain and that is definitely one. Right there with you in handing out the 10s.

Goodness gracious testicles as big as dodgeballs that actually scares me so so much. Also love the fact they posted to tumblr - forgot how much porn used to be on that website that seemed to be mainly for 15 year old girls who reposted photos of Harry styles...

Also David, one Tool song on your playlist?!?!? I mean seeing a Slipknot song in there is great but one Tool song?! No A Perfect Circle?!! Hahahaha! You have fantastic music taste!
