Her Harvey Weinstein story is worrying. It seems a real stretch to imply that he was going to molest her, and to me undermines the very real assaults other women endured from him.

I think "worrying" is the correct word.

I have been feverishly checking my inbox hourly since part 1, such was my fascination. This woman is textbook narcissistic personality disorder. She’s a female

Donald trump. She fabricates situations and inserts herself in to stories, I’m guessing from those interviews, right then and there on the spot. And after she’s told them I suspect she believes them. The lack of journalistic fact checking is worrying though - the only validation required seems to be a previous interview or byline and somehow that’s all it takes to be green lit to speak. Weinstein? Holy crap that was an abhorrent reference. For the love of the gods David if you need some legal assistance on this one, CROWD FUND THAT SHIT! I will be all over it.

Thanks Sarah. I think Trump has proven that this is an acceptable way of life. It's really sad.

Horrifying. There’s rarely any signs of repercussions for this behaviour and enthusiasm for the grift, so no surprises it continues.

I've been fascinated with Miss Wilding for years when she turned up at a company I was working at and created quite a stir with stories of working with the Rolling Stones, being on tour with the Spice Girls etc. Blagged her way into badly directing a couple of music videos. Her husband set up Herald de Paris and she seems to be the only other person working there, she uses it to comment about herself. REALLY frustrating that the NZ media, RNZ, TV3 etc continue to have use her for comment without checking her credentials. Have you seen Buddha Gone Wild? - it is a akin to a really bad home movie, can't imagine anyone would want to pirate it and I doubt it was ever on an Oscar short list. Was blocked by her on twitter this morning after "liking" a couple of negative comments, so there goes my entertainment.

Hey Melanie - if you're able, drop me a line? (no pressure) - davidfarrier@protonmail.com. Curious about her music video claims, and also who's enabling aspects of this. I can't believe no-one has stepped in.

I showed my friend the video of her talking about the Obama's/Weinstein -- didn't give them any context. Their first response within 30 seconds was "This woman is so full of shit" and then "How did she get passed a screening interview with producers?" then "You can tell this woman is making shit up and her story is weirdly airy fairy but then immediately very detailed". Then when they hit the part about Weinstein it was just the word "no" repeated about 40 times.

Also that clip is strong evidence toward my policy of banning breakfast television.

Same with my nieces! Same reaction. They're kids and their bs detector is somehow better than breakfast bookers?

The level of delusion with everything she touches is astounding. Does anyone else get stressed reading her press releases/writing? There's something about her spelling and grammar that screams mania.

Of course Studio 10 gave her airtime - trash morning TV that only presents these kind of 'news' stories to fill the time between advertorials. That Weinstein story though... even for someone as despicable as him, there's a huge leap from someone telling him "not this one" while in front of an elevator to potential molestation. Pretty yikes to be inserting herself into that narrative.

Studio 10 isn't exactly top notch, a good point. I didn't want to go into her Weinstein story - but yeah. I hear ya, Joe.

I'm late reading this, and now I partly regret it as I have spent a few hours googling trying to find more info on her (hours I should be sleeping). You and Dylan probably know all about this, but here goes:

1) The Christchurch library's page on Anthony Wilding (https://my.christchurchcitylibraries.com/anthony-wilding/) contains a link to the "Wilding Family website" (http://www.anthonywilding.com/) This family website is likely set up by Anna Wilding as it contains a link to http://www.wildingfoundation.co.nz/ (mentioned in part 1's comments, but now no longer returning a page), and a press release by Carpe Diem Films uses the exact same text (https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU0904/S00188/the-matinee-idol-of-tennis.htm). I struggled to find the source text mentioned, either because the author's name and title of their work are misspelt, or it does not exist.

2) http://www.wildingfoundation.com/about.html - More Anna writings if you want to read more. I've looked up their foundation since they still have a donate button redirecting to PayPal, and they deregistered last year (https://www.register.charities.govt.nz/Charity/CC39420). Interesting that the site still features the Christchurch earthquakes, and there is mention of media coverage of the foundation.

3) Assuming she really is related to Anthony Wilding, the Wimbledon tennis champion, (she claims he is her great-uncle) it is a rather impressive family to be a part of: https://www.stuff.co.nz/marlborough-express/your-marlborough/72796786/extraordinary-family-the-subject-of-new-book So maybe she is feeling inadequate in the face of these numerous family success stories and is making up stuff to keep up or be better than the family (classic Trump, btw). Or she's not really related to them, but have latched on by appropriating the family history as her own.

Does she come from a family of lawyers because that's a weird way for a creative to try and be noticed.

Also poor john safran, always getting cropped out that pic. He's going to have to get his own t-shirt send to Theroux.

I don't know if anyone else has posted this, but if you'd like to watch her movie, Buddha Wild, you can see it here: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1zo1rb

You can judge for yourselves whether or not you think a movie of this quality was ever a favorite to win the Oscar. As someone that follows documentary films quite closely, and usually sees over a hundred each year, I had never heard of this film.

Good god! That interview with the Australian TV show is frightening. What infuriates me is that the show know she's unreliable but they need the content, and milk the most salacious info they can get - the Harvey Weinstein angle. It's a case of both parasites serving each other. One doesn't have to be very smart to see that she writes her own press releases. They are badly written and full of spelling mistakes. And that is not being smug, its just the first sign of someone working alone that they cant get someone to proofread. I couldn't get past the first page of the document 'Plandemic' for the spelling and grammatical errors. (Just keeping myself informed). Anyway, good work David and Dylan. And a big shout out to the integrity of Paul Thompson of The Press! These moments and people need to be congratulated when they get it right.

Newshub carried her Weinstein story at the time as well. It's gone now, as is the original WABC radio story that was the original mainstream interview from which all the rest of that coverage spawned. Not sure why either was removed.
