A terrorist group storms the US Senate

I don’t really know what to say, so I am going to keep this short.
I can’t help but think if only police had put as much effort into stopping these terrorists as they did BLM protestors.
No, I don’t think the police should have beat the shit out of these people, or killed them. Perhaps this was the least violent outcome possible.
What I do know is that it’s a strikingly different approach to how Black Lives Matter protestors were treated.
I think that for anyone laughing off or minimising the threat from a rogue conspiracy movement called QAnon needs to think again.
It’s a terrorist group, and today they stormed the Senate.
That’s the “Q shaman” in the middle. Viewed by many as a sort of cynical joke, he’s there now, on the Senate floor. He marched outside alongside those with Confederate flags.
So if anyone is thinking of dismissing any comparisons to what went down during BLM, take a step back: because this time police are taking selfies with the terrorists.
I spent all of last year writing about the world’s descent into conspiracy madness — and right now it feels like none of it was worth it.
See, the thing is, we have all the information we need at our fingertips to make sound and logical decisions — but that doesn’t mean a goddamn thing.
My heart is with America, I hope you make it back, but I’m not sure.

Everything you've written has been and will continue to be worth it. You've helped so many people learn and understand and perhaps be just a little more mentally prepared for this. What's happening is still fucked but that helps. You're reliable and generous with your research and work and that can be a huge comfort for those who need it. Your work has value and I feel grateful for all that you've written so thank you, for all of it.
When I attended NYC protests, I could not shake the feeling of constant surveillance police in every direction with drones, and cameras, ready to take action. The images of empty press rooms and offices filled with protesters without any authority present looks almost fiction. We all know that the capital has the resources and ability to curb the mobs in the way they did at the BLM protests, yet they allow this to continue. A very clear and disheartening message.
