Come Party With Webworm!
On December 12, Webworm is putting on a show in Auckland, New Zealand.
Also on Webworm today, we look at the unlikely source of Aotearoa's latest political scandal, involving PM Christoper Luxon and National Party enthusiast & convicted child sex offender Roger Buchanan. You can read that story here.
Hi,
This December I return to New Zealand for the holidays with both excitement and trepidation.
The trepidation comes from a few places: I'll be leaving an America in whatever post-midterms chaos it finds itself in, and an Aotearoa adjusting to a new political makeup post-election. I'll also be renewing my United States visa in New Zealand – a process that feels a little more up-in-the-air than usual, given how vocal I’ve been in my disgust for Donald Trump and ICE over the last three years.
Then there's the excitement: The family and friends I get to see, and some Webworm reporting to do on home turf.
But I'm particularly excited about one thing in particular: We're putting on a live Webworm show in Auckland on December 12 – and tickets are on sale now.
It will all be taking place at Q Theatre from 7pm, where I'll be joined on stage by some very special friends to look back on the year in journalism: The good, the bad, the weird. The wins and the losses. The heroes and the villains.
It'll have plenty of Webworm flavour, but also look outward to celebrate good journalism happening everywhere. It will be a magical chance for Worms to all gather in one place, say hello (to me, and to each other!) and reflect on one of the maddest years I can remember.
The Details:
What: Webworm Live 2026
When? Saturday December 12, 7pm.
Where? Q Theatre, Auckland – 305 Queen Street, Auckland, 1010
Who? I'll be there, joined on stage by a number of guests, including Hayden Donnell, Nicky Hager, Mihingarangi Forbes... and more.

How? Tickets are on sale now, here – they are $40, or if you’re a paying Webworm subscriber they're just $25, using the discount code found at the bottom of this newsletter.
Seats are allocated, so the sooner you grab them, the better seats you'll have.
I'd like to give special thanks to Rosabel Tan who is producing this event, and Toby Morris who did all our wonderful graphics (limited edition t-shirts will be available on the night).
So please tell your friends, and spread this event far and wide: www.webworm.co/webworm2026
It would mean a lot to me if we could fill this thing up.

Q&A:
I am a paid-up Webworm member – where is my discount code?
Scroll to the bottom, and there it sits.
Why is this only in Auckland?
I wish I had the time and resources to tour around the entirety of New Zealand – but due to the budget and the nature of time, I just can't make this happen. This Auckland event will not make money – it may not even break even! But I want to do it.
Is this being recorded?
I'll be recording audio of the evening, and releasing a podcast version here on Webworm for paying subscribers who can't make it (or who want to hear it again).
Will there be merch?
There will be limited edition tees available on the night, based on Toby Morris' original artwork for this event.
Will there be other live events in the future?
This is always my aim with Webworm – so stay tuned. Remember, if you're in New York during November, you can come and celebrate Tickled's 10th birthday with me and some surprise Q&A guests (this will be recorded for paying Webworm subscribers who can't make it).

I can't wait to see you there – and who knows, maybe I'll get served mid-show by Webworm star Andrew Thorn!

If you have any other questions, I will be in the comments section.
See you there,
David.
